The Balmore Trust, JTS and Gavins Mill invite you to the first of a series on online meetings to hear from some of our Fair Trade producer partners about work they are doing in their local communities and what we can do to support them.

The first of these events will focus on the work of the Woman Farmer Foundation of Eswatini, which aims to empower and develop woman and young people who will in turn inspire and support their local communities to mitigate the effects of rural poverty.

Their Youth Technological tunnel project aims to empower young people aged 18-35 years from rural areas in Eswatini, offering training in high tunnel farming methods. This innovative technology promotes the growth of high value crops using sustainable technology aimed at combating climate change. High tunnels are low cost structures that make use of solar energy, protect crops form extreme weather conditions and have been shown to improve agricultural yields.

The aims of the project are to improve job security and income for rural young people, to increase youth involvement in Eswatini’s production of high value crops and to create and promote community youth agri-business models.

Watch the video below to find out more about the products available to buy from Eswatini through JTS and Gavin's Mill.

We would love for you to join us to learn more about the Tunnel Project and hear directly from some of the participants.  Register now on Eventbrite for a Zoom link to attend this virtual event and learn more about how you can help to Build Back Fairer and Stand with the Producers.  We look forward to seeing you there!
